Pacers Center Agrees to Contract Buyout

Clippers Eyeing Trade for Theis

The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly close to acquiring center Daniel Theis, who has agreed to a contract buyout with the Indiana Pacers. Theis, a 6-foot-8 German, was traded to the Pacers in July 2022 as part of a deal that also brought Aaron Nesmith to Indiana. The Pacers have been looking to move Theis for some time, as his salary could have been used in a deadline trade. The buyout clears the way for Theis to join the Clippers, who are in need of frontcourt depth. Theis is a solid defender and rebounder, and he can also contribute offensively. He averaged 9.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Pacers this season. The Clippers are currently 23-22 and in sixth place in the Western Conference. The addition of Theis should help them improve their defense and rebounding, and it could make them a contender for a playoff spot.
